Is new season of ‘Ted Lasso’ being shot in KC? These casting calls suggest it could be
When “Ted Lasso” wrapped up it’s three-year run on Apple TV+, the title character played by Shawnee Mission West graduate Jason Sudeikis returned home to Kansas.
A fourth season of the show about a fish-out-of-water soccer coach has been announced by Sudeikis, the co-creator and Big Slick co-host. And a series of recent Facebook posts from a casting company in Missouri indicates “Ted Lasso” will be filming in Kansas City.
The casting company is looking for stand-ins, and the photos certainly do look like Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Sudeikis and possibly Jeremy Swift. All are main characters on “Ted Lasso.”
An X user with the handle LassoLilly shared a post of the casting call for stand-ins and those pictures.
There is also are casting calls for people to portray grocery-store shoppers, pedestrians on the street and restaurant patrons.
An X user named Hannah shared those casting calls.
There also is a casting call for twin babies, which would be an interesting plot development in “Ted Lasso.”
And a scene at an airport apparently is planned.
All of these casting calls say the shooting will take place in July at various times. If you want to apply to be an extra, you can find more on the casting company’s website.
And one of those scenes will be at a barbecue restaurant. If it really is “Ted Lasso,” then Kansas City barbecue had to be in the show.
Waddingham has visited Kansas City previously. She joined Sudeikis on stage at the Uptown Theater for his Thundergong show in 2023.
