Statcast breaks down Alcides Escobar’s throw home, Lorenzo Cain’s homer

Yordano Ventura threw six shutout innings Tuesday night as the Royals beat the Tigers 6-1. That was certainly nice to see for Royals fans, but this is what people will be talking about today.

How about Alcides Escobar’s perfect relay throw home to get James McCann trying to score. MLB.com’s breakdown shows Escobar’s dart home traveled at 91.7 mph. Everything was perfect about that play, starting with Jarrod Dyson’s throw, Escobar’s stunning catch-and-release time (as you’ll see) and the throw at the perfect part of the plate.

Then there was Lorenzo Cain’s mammoth home run that traveled 414 feet, but had a projected distance of 450 feet according to Statcast:
