Royals promotions this week: Just seven fans will get a special bobblehead Saturday
Whether it’s intentional or not, the Royals are in a way paying tribute to the movie, “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.”
The first 20,000 fans through the Kauffman Stadium gates Saturday for the Royals-Athletics game will receive a Bobby Witt Jr. “Record Breaker Bobblehead.”
But, like the golden tickets hidden in bars of chocolate in “Willy Wonka,” seven lucky fans will get a gold-colored version of the bobblehead that was autographed by Witt.
Here are the other promotions the Royals have planned for this week.
Dollar Dog Night
Tuesday: Royals vs. Yankees, 6:40 p.m.
The Royals open the homestand Tuesday as the Yankees come to Kauffman Stadium. There will be $1 hot dogs for sale.
Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis and Ruskin High School girls soccer coach Megan Codilla will each throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game.
Pride Night
Thursday: Royals vs. Yankees, 6:40 p.m.
Fans who buy a theme ticket will receive a hand fan, fanny pack, socks and koolie. Those packs will be distributed exclusively inside Gate A.
Singer/actor Cheyenne Jackson (“30 Rock”) will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Alex Gordon celebration
Friday: Royals vs. Athletics, 7:10 p.m.
Former left fielder Alex Gordon will be inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame during a pregame ceremony at Kauffman Stadium. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:10 p.m.
The first 20,000 fans will receive an Alex Gordon bobblehead. And there will be fireworks after the game.
Ladies Night
Saturday: Athletics at Royals, 3:10 p.m.
In addition to the special Bobby Witt Jr. bobblehead, it’ll be Ladies Night for the game, which begins in the afternoon.
With the purchase of a theme ticket, female fans will receive a special Royals jersey and will be allowed into the stadium at 12:30 p.m., which is an early entry time. Special vendors will be on hand for the event.
Father’s Day
Sunday: Royals vs. Athletics, 1:10 p.m.
Fans who purchase a theme ticket will receive a tailgate meal in the Hall of Fame Tent prior to the game. Gates will open at 11:30 a.m. The tailgate will conclude at 1 p.m.
