Kansas City 2026 World Cup organizers announce kickoff event for the public
Life in Kansas City is going to change dramatically in just over a year.
In a little more than 365 days, the 2026 World Cup will begin, and Kansas City will play host to six matches at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium (which will be known as Kansas City Stadium during the tournament).
The Kansas City World Cup planning committee is planning a free kickoff event for June 22 at Aspiria Campus, 6240 Sprint Parkway in Overland Park. It’ll be from noon to 5 p.m.
Here is a description of what is planned: “Whether you’re a devoted soccer fan or just curious about FIFA World Cup 26, this is your opportunity to learn how our region is preparing to host the world’s largest sporting competition, what it means for our community and ways you can be a part of history in the making.
“Experience the flavors of our region, enjoy entertainment for the whole family, explore how the game of soccer unites us, and connect with some of the local makers and businesses that enhance our KC community.”
You can find more information on the event on the 2026 Kansas City World Cup site.
