Mike Moustakas last appeared in a Major League Baseball game in 2023, but he’s been a regular at Kauffman Stadium over the past few weeks.

Earlier this month, the Royals honored the 2015 World Series championship team and Moustakas took part in the ceremony at The K. Moose donned a yellow jersey on Friday night and played with the Savannah Bananas at Kauffman Stadium.

And Moustakas will be back at the K on Saturday when he officially retires from baseball as a member of the Royals.

That’s just one of the homestand highlights this week. Here is a look at the special events planned and giveaways for the upcoming home games for the Royals:

Monday

Reds at Royals, 3:10 p.m.

On Memorial Day, the Royals will have a pre-game moment of silence, and Korean War veteran Victor Tennyson will throw out the first pitch.

The Royals said Staff Sergeant Derek Wilson of the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America will perform the national anthem. Sergeant Lance Lanner of the Fort Leavenworth Army Corrections Command will perform “God Bless America” in the seventh inning.

Tuesday

Reds at Royals, 6:40 p.m.

The first 8,000 fans through the gates will receive a Pasquatch necklace.

Also: Fans will be able to purchase hot dogs for $1.

Friday

Tigers at Royals, 7:10 p.m.

Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., which is earlier than usual, so fans can watch the Big Slick softball game with Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Heidi Gardner, Eric Stonestreet, David Koechner, Rob Riggle and their celebrity friends.

The softball game begins at 5 p.m. Fans will be allowed to sit in any open seat, but only for the softball game.

Children’s Mercy patients will throw out the ceremonial first pitch to the six Big Slick hosts before the game.

This also will be a Fireworks Friday, so fans can stick around to watch a show after the game.

Saturday

Tigers at Royals, 3:10 p.m.

Moustakas will retire with the Royals in a pre-game ceremony. Fans should be in their seats by 2:20 p.m. Gates open at 1:30 p.m.

Fans who buy a theme ticket will receive a Kansas State/Royals branded windbreaker because it’s also K-State Day.

After the game, Maverick City Music will perform in concert as part of Faith Day.

Sunday

Tigers at Royals, 1:10 p.m.

Fans who buy a Día de los Niños theme ticket will get a special Royals activity book and there will be face painters, balloon artists and other activities, the team said.

A former Royals player will sign autographs in the Royals Hall of Fame building from noon to 1 p.m.

Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. will be honored in a pre-game ceremony as a finalist for the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award, which does to “the player who best exemplifies the spirit and character of Lou Gehrig, both on and off the field.”

Also, a fan with ALS will receive a Royals branded wheelchair, the team said.

After the game, children aged 14 and under can run the bases (weather permitting). The Royals said kids can begin lining up in the eighth inning on the first-base spiral near Gate D on the Plaza Level.
