One of George Wendt’s final performances was with a pair of KC Chiefs stars
Actor George Wendt, who died Tuesday at the age of 76, became famous on “Cheers,” but IMDB noted he worked on a number of projects over the past few years, including movies, TV shows and podcasts.
In fact, Wendt filmed a TV movie named “Compound Fractures” that will air in the future. But one of Wendt’s final performances is not listed on the IMDB page.
It came in Kansas City.
At last year’s Big Slick event, Wendt donned his Chicago Bears gear for a skit at the T-Mobile Center. Wendt helped make the Chicago “Super Fans” a popular recurring bit on “Saturday Night Live,” and you might remember their catch phrase: “Da Bears!”
The Bears Super Fans were joined last year by a couple of Chiefs stars: quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce.
Robert Smigel and Shawnee Mission West graduate Jason Sudeikis, a nephew of Wendt’s, poked fun at Kansas City and Kelce’s relationship with superstar singer Taylor Swift.
“I looked it up,” Smigel said. “KC is riddled with crime, my friend.”
Wendt quipped: “That’s what happens when you allow your town to be overrun with Swifties.”
Here are clips of the Chiefs stars performing with Wendt.
This is the full skit with Wendt, Kelce and Mahomes.
