The Chiefs dynasty has been particularly beneficial to Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas.

Lucas has won a substantial amount of food and beverages during the Patrick Mahomes era thanks to those bets mayors make on postseason football games.

It’s been such a big haul for Lucas that he was part of a “Jeopardy!” answer on Tuesday.

If you’ve watched the game show, you know that the answers are shown and contestants have to provide the correct question. This was the Chiefs-related answer about their playoff success: “A bet with the rival team’s mayor is now a Super Bowl tradition for mayor Quinton Lucas of this city; his fave wager? Barbecue.”

A contestant named Liam Starnes correctly asked: “What is Kansas City?”

Lucas shared a clip from the show on social media, and he wrote: “Well done, Liam on @Jeopardy. Some burnt ends coming your way.”

Take a look at a clip from the show, and wasn’t it was fun to see the Chiefs and barbecue mentioned?

Lucas’ social media followers were excited to see Kansas City in the “Jeopardy” spotlight.

“The fact that we have a ‘Super Bowl tradition’ now still blows my mind.” wrote one Instagram fan.

“Thanks Mayor Lucas we are now a part of Jeopardy history,” gushed one of his Facebook friends.

Starnes, an undergraduate student from Barrington, Illinois, told “Jeopardy” host Ken Jennings that he is a sports fan, especially of Chicago teams.

He went on to win in Tuesday’s episode following a nail-biting comeback Monday. “Jeopardy” fans have pointed out how much Starnes looks like Sheldon Cooper, the brainy character played by Jim Parsons on “The Big Bang Theory.”

Mayor bets won by Quinton Lucas

Earlier this year, Lucas shared a spreadsheet showing the breadth of his haul over the years. A small taste of his winnings:

2020: Chicken, cupcakes and brittle (Chiefs beat Titans)

2022: Buffalo wings (Chiefs beat Bills)

2023: Beer and donuts (Chiefs beat Jaguars)

2024: Crabs and seasoning (Chiefs beat Ravens)

2025: Barbecue (Chiefs beat Texans)

Lucas has wagered barbecue from several local places, including Jack Stack Barbecue, Arthur Bryant’s and LC’s Bar-B-Q.
