Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen on Thursday shared a photo on social media of a meeting with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who last month was deported to El Salvador.

This is a sports story, so it might be strange to be writing about this, but it’s what Garcia was wearing that caught the interest of many football fans.

Garcia had donned a Chiefs Super Bowl LVII championship cap. It’s unclear if that came from Van Hollen or if Garcia owned it, but multiple people on X commented about Garcia’s cap.

That includes Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, who wrote: “props on the Chiefs hat.” Lucas later deleted the post.

Multiple Ravens fans, however, were displeased to see the Chiefs cap, because Abrego Garcia was living in Maryland. But they, like many others, were just surprised to see the hat. Here is a bit of what was being said on X.
