The Royals’ Double-A team at Northwest Arkansas has only played 10 games this season, but a lot already has happened.

Top prospect Jac Caglianone has clubbed three long home runs and No. 3 prospect Carter Jensen caught a combined no-hitter on Tuesday night.

Northwest Arkansas defeated San Antonio 3-0 and Ryan Ramsey, Chazz Martinez, Ryan Brady and Brandon Johnson allowed just two walks.

“As a catcher, game calling is one of the most important things that comes with the position,” Jensen told MiLB.com. “It can be tough sometimes because you don’t really know the pitchers as much, but the biggest thing is just creating a relationship, having conversations. Even if one of them’s not pitching that night, just going over before the game and talking to them and saying, ‘Hey, I really want to learn some more about your stuff. I want to learn what you like to do in certain counts against certain hitters.’

“Having conversations and building relationships to gain their trust, so when the game comes, it’s just easy and everything flows.”

Jensen had the trust of his pitchers on Tuesday in Texas as the Naturals didn’t allow a hit.

The Royals’ Player Development shared a video with all 27 outs on its X account, and Northwest Arkansas shortstop Jack Pineda made a great play on the first batter of the game.

“That’s awesome,” Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. “That’s absolutely incredible. I mean, it’s very rare and for guys to have that kind of accomplishment under their belt, good for them. I saw all the outs that was put together by (Dave Holtzman) and he sent it out to us. And the fact you see the emotion at the end of the game, that’s what you play for. It’s incredible.”
