Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce gave a glowing review of a KC donut shop
Tight end Travis Kelce admits he gets a little excited when he sees something special in the Chiefs facility.
A box of LaMar’s donuts.
Kelce and his brother, Jason, have added food reviews to their staple of New Heights podcast episodes and a few weeks ago talked about a New York City donut shop.
They also briefly mentioned LaMar’s Donuts, which has six locations in the Kansas City area.
But last fall, the Kelce brothers did a deep dive on LaMar’s, which opened its first location in KC in 1933 and also has spots in Arizona, Colorado and Nebraska.
“Lamar, back then, back in 1933 figured it out,” Travis Kelce said. “Yellow box, man, I see these things, this is like seeing gold. It’s like finding Pokémon when you see a yellow box on a random desk in the football facility.”
The brothers then did a taste test and the fun began.
“It’s not bad. It’s very good,” Jason Kelce said. “It almost tastes like it’s a little underbaked but I think that’s good. I like it.”
Travis said: “This is 10 out of 10 right here.”
Jason: “You can’t give it a 10.”
“Yeah I can,” Travis countered.
Jason’s final score on the donut: An 8.2.
“Good donut,” he said. “I’m very happy with this donut.”
Travis Kelce didn’t back down.
“I think this is a phenomenal donut,” he said. “I’m enjoying the hell out of it, and when I feel this, I give it a 10.”
Jason summed up donuts perfectly.
“I’m not saying it’s bad, like it’s sugar and dough,” he noted. “It’s gonna be good.”
Here is the video of Travis and Jason talking about LaMar’s, but be warned, the brothers curse at times.
