Maikel Garcia won a free chicken sandwich for all Royals fans at Saturday’s game
Some highlights are just better than others.
For instance, Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia hit a game-tying solo home run in the eighth inning of Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians at Kauffman Stadium.
Ah, but there was much more to it.
Garcia’s home run hit the foul pole in left field, which has Chick-fil-A advertising on it. Because it hit the pole, every fan at Kauffman Stadium won a free chicken sandwich.
The Royals players were pleasantly surprised that the fans got a special treat.
“I didn’t know that,” Garcia said.
Closer Carlos Estévez said: “Oh, that’s right. That’s cool. My daughters, they love Chick-fil-A.”
Royals broadcaster Rex Hudler, who has made fans laugh with his “exclamatory noise” on big hits did it again.
Garcia punctuated the home run with a sweet bat flip, but that video unfortunately hasn’t been shared on social media.
However, a collection of Hudler’s excitement on big hits was shared last August on X/Twitter via KCTV-5’s Jared Koeller.
