‘Chiefs have become what the Raiders were.’ NFL fans sound off on Xavier Worthy arrest
Bright sunshine greeted Chiefs fans in Kansas City on Saturday morning.
Unfortunately, so did the news of the arrest of Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy in Texas. That comes a little less than a year after Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice was involved in a car crash in the Lone Star State.
A few months after Rice’s incident, Chiefs lineman Isaiah Buggs was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and burglary. He was released by the Chiefs.
And offensive linemen Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were arrested in Johnson County last May and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
The good news for Worthy is that the Austin Statesman said Saturday night that Williamson County authorities declined to press charges against Worthy.
Earlier on Saturday, many fans made a comparison that Chiefs fans may not like: They’ve become the Raiders, who once had the reputation for being the bad boys of the NFL.
Turns out this was premature, but here is what was said.
“Chiefs are the troubled team everyone likes to pretend the Raiders are,” a Raiders fan shared in an X post.
A Chargers fan wrote on X: “Chiefs players are somehow one upping the Raiders org for that thug stigma at this point. Impressive.”
“And just like that the Chiefs have become what the Raiders were for the last 10 offseason,” another fan wrote on X. “I remember always hearing a Raider player getting in trouble during the offseason but we clean that (stuff) up now the Chiefs have become that, crazy like last year it was (Rice) now Worthy.”
A Chiefs fan shared this: “Rashee suspension looming now Worthy suspension most likely. Not sure if we are getting Hollywood back yet. Next season will not be fun to watch…”
Here is more of what fans of the Chiefs and other teams have been saying.
