The Royals and the FanDuel Sports Network on Wednesday outlined how fans will be able to stream games on Amazon Prime starting this season.

Bally Sports Kansas City, which had broadcast and streamed Royals games, rebranded as FanDuel Sports Network Kansas City in October. Royals games will be available on that cable channel and streaming through the FanDuel app starting this season.

But as the team noted, it’s available only in the “Royals television footprint.” Fans outside that area can stream Royals games on MLB TV. The site getmyhometeams.com will let you know if you can stream Royals games on FanDuel.

“We just went for the short-term deal (with FanDuel),” Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman said earlier this month. “We’re going to continue to evaluate. One of the reasons that we stayed with them was we’re working on a lot of things here, and so taking our fans through another kind of change, and having to train them, we decided that this is a pretty simple transition relative to where we are.

“We expect those guys to put on a good product and maybe do some interesting things with the partnership with FanDuel and the fact that sports betting is now legal in Missouri. I think there may be some interesting things for our fans there as well.”

What it costs

People with a cable subscription can stream Royals games through the FanDuel Sports Network app or on FanDuelSportsNetwork.com. The Royals said the network is available locally on Charter Spectrum, Comcast Xfinity, Cox, DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, U-verse TV and Xtream.

Fans can sign up at fanduelsportsnetwork.com to stream games on the FanDuel Sports Network app. There are three price options.

It’s $19.99 per month, while a Season Pass costs either $105.99 (starting March 20) or $122.99 (beginning Feb. 21). The latter will allow fans to watch spring-training games that air on the network.

How to watch on Amazon

For Royals fans who already have an Amazon Prime account, there is a four-step process to start streaming games. It will require paying an add-on cost for the FanDuel Sports Network, so your Amazon Prime subscription alone won’t cover the cost to stream Royals games.

If you’re using a web browser, go to amazon.com/channels and search for FanDuel Sports Network. Select a subscription plan and then pay for it.

If you’re using a device, open the app and search for FanDuel Sports Network. Select a subscription plan and then pay for it.

The cost is the same as listed above for fans who stream games through the FanDuel Sports Network app. There is no discount for fans with an Amazon Prime account.
