Leo Chenal excited about report that Chiefs hired his former Wisconsin teammate as a coach
Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal was a freshman at the University of Wisconsin in the 2019 season and he saw teammate Chris Orr set a school record.
Orr had 11 1/2 sacks, the most in a season by an inside/middle linebacker in Wisconsin history. After his time with the Badgers, Orr played for the Carolina Panthers, then became a linebackers coach at Jackson State when his playing days ended.
CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported that Orr will be joining the Chiefs coaching staff, something Orr seemed to confirm with a social media post.
Chenal was fired up to see that news about Orr.
“Death Row full steam ahead! We ready to work!!” Chenal wrote in an X post.
That “Death Row” comment was about a Wisconsin football nickname.
“Death row’ is a name that the inside linebackers have had for a long time — (Jack) Cichy, T.J. Edwards, those inside linebacker greats who have passed through here,” Chenal told the Associated Press in 2021. “It means toughness, grit, hard work, just blowing people up. It’s something you’ve got to earn, and it’s something I wear proud.”
Chenal’s toughness is a trait Chiefs fans love.
Orr visited Chiefs training camp last summer in St. Joseph.
