Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes shares thoughts on President Trump attending Super Bowl LIX
The Chiefs will attempt to make NFL history on Sunday in Super Bowl LIX, but it’ll already be a noteworthy game.
President Trump will be at the Caesars Superdome to watch the Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles. Should the Chiefs win, they’d be the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowl championships.
It’ll be the first time a sitting president will attend a Super Bowl.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked Wednesday about President Trump’s plan to be at the game.
“It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president,” Mahomes said, “someone that is in a top position in our country.”
Trump was asked who he thought would win Sunday. While he didn’t make a pick, he mentioned Mahomes without saying his name.
“I don’t want to say,” Trump said in the Oval Office on Tuesday, “but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner.”
Mahomes liked what Trump said about him.
“I didn’t see that clip,” Mahomes said, “but obviously it’s cool to hear that he’s seen me play football and respects the game that I play.”
