Chiefs’ DeAndre Hopkins pens heartfelt message to kids growing up in difficult situations
Shortly after the Chiefs landed in New Orleans ahead of Super Bowl LIX, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins posted a photo on his Instagram account from the Big Easy.
Hopkins, who is in his 12th season in the NFL, is playing in his first Super Bowl, and apparently he is feeling emotional about the opportunity. Hopkins and the Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles at the Superdome on Sunday.
As a kid who grew up in South Carolina, Hopkins dealt with more family tragedy that any person should bear. It seems that Hopkins’ childhood was on his mind as he prepared to play in the biggest sporting event in the United States.
That led Hopkins to write a heartfelt message to kids everywhere about pursuing their dreams.
“To all the kids out there living in small towns, in small houses, with single parents. To the kids who see violence, who see loss, who don’t get the resources they deserve, but who still have big dreams,” Hopkins wrote. “Know that I was a kid in your exact shoes and this week I’m playing in the Super Bowl. Don’t give up, work hard, keep believing. Where you start doesn’t determine where you end up.”
That message will tug at anyone’s heartstrings.
