When he hosted “Saturday Night Live” in 2023, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce joked about testing positive for marijuana and his subsequent suspension from the University of Cincinnati football team.

That happened shortly before Kelce and the Bearcats were set to play Florida in the 2010 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

“I was down in New Orleans, listening to Lil Wayne, and I wanted to smoke what he was smoking,” Kelce told Vanity Fair in 2023.

The Star’s Sam McDowell detailed how Kelce nearly quit football but came back with the help of his older brother, Jason.

Kelce’s mind flashed back to that incident shortly after the Chiefs defeated the Bills 32-29 on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game. Kelce was on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium field with girlfriend, superstar singer Taylor Swift, and his mom, Donna.

The Chiefs will be playing in Super Bowl LIX, which is in New Orleans.

“Takes me back. I owe New Orleans a little something,” Travis Kelce said.

Swift said: “Not going to Bourbon Street,” and Donna Kelce added: “You know your history.”

Travis Kelce agreed and said: “Yeah, I won’t be having as much fun.”

That conversation was shared around on social media.

@thekansascitystar After the Chiefs’ latest classic against the Buffalo Bills, it was a familiar scene as Travis Kelce took the mic and spoke directly to the fans. “When you play in front of Arrowhead Stadium like this, every single AFC Championship, you kidding me?” Travis Kelce shouted into the mic. “Kansas Cityyyyyyyy!” Shortly after that scene, Kelce found superstar singer Taylor Swift and the happy couple headed back toward the Chiefs locker room.
