Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Stonestreet grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and is a lifelong Chiefs fan.

Stonestreet has never been shy about showing his love for the Chiefs, and on Sunday he offered a fierce defense of the team.

In posts shared Saturday and Sunday on X, ESPN’s Adam Schefter implied that NFL officials help quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. One former Chiefs player, a Fox Sports broadcaster and many fans expressed frustration with Schefter’s words.

During an interview Sunday on the NFL Network, Stonestreet added his voice to that chorus of angry Chiefs fans.

“Don’t get mired down in Adam Schefter’s tweet about the league is favoring the Chiefs,” Stonestreet said. “He calls out Patrick Mahomes in his tweet like Patrick Mahomes is the only one on the beneficiary end of a roughing-the-passer call. He’s got the biggest reach in all the NFL and here he is out implying and furthering this conspiracy that the league is rigging the game against us.

“Here’s the deal: I love football, I love it all. I hate that stuff. I’m pro-freedom of speech, I’m pro-freedom of thought. You can think if you’re watching this that the league rigs it (for) the Chiefs. But I think the one place they wouldn’t want that implied is Adam Schefter tweeting to all of his followers, saying, ‘Yep, the NFL, it sure seems like they’re rigging the game for the Chiefs.’”
