Will Howard had a sensational Rose Bowl, throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns Wednesday as Ohio State crushed Oregon 41-21.

Following the College Football Playoff quarterfinal victory, Howard sought out one Ducks player in particular. It was his former Kansas State teammate Kobe Savage, a safety for Oregon.

Ahead of the game, Savage praised Howard.

“He’s a great competitor, a great guy, a great leader, a great teammate,” Savage told the website Eleven Warriors. “Somebody you always want to go out there and compete with. It’s really cool just seeing him on the other side. I mean, competing with him for the past two years at K-State at practices and stuff, it’s really cool to finally play him again. It’s crazy I got to play him twice this season, so it’s really exciting.”

Stefan Krajisnik of the Cleveland Plain Dealer shared video of Howard and Savage meeting following the Buckeyes’ victory.

Savage also praised Kansas State in the interview with Eleven Warriors.

“Kansas State is definitely a blue-collar program,” he said. “Not getting a lot of five-stars or four-stars (recruits), but just being able to have that dog mentality, whether you’re a JUCO guy or a three-star guy, very under-recruited, to go out there and prove yourself.”
