Maxx Crosby’s social-media message excites Chiefs fans, but here’s the meaning behind it
One of the best subplots of the AFC West is the rivalry between Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby.
Each player has had his successes against the other team, and Crosby and Mahomes have sniped at one another, too.
Deep down, the two stars have a lot of respect for one another.
“The dude is a dog, there’s a reason why he wins,” Crosby told ESPN last year. “That’s the type of guys I want around me. That’s why we compete. I know I’m one of the best, he’s one of the best and that’s what brings that competitive nature out of us.”
Many Chiefs fans have dreamed of Crosby joining Mahomes in Kansas City, and on Sunday they thought there was a possible hint of his intention to do just that.
It was simply: “KC” with five fire emojis.
Chiefs fans loved it, and many shared how they’d love to see Crosby come to Kansas City. Here’s a bit of what they were saying.
Meaning of the message
Crosby can opt out of his contract following this season, according to the Sporting News. So there is always the possibility that he could join the Chiefs ahead of the 2025 season.
One caveat: It would require a hefty contract for Crosby, who is one of the best pass rushers in football.
By the way, that message on X from Crosby was most likely about the Raiders’ K’Lavon Chaisson, who had a sack in Vegas’ 19-14 win over the Jaguars.
And that “KC” message was one of a handful that Crosby shared about his teammates during Sunday’s game.
But, hey, Chiefs fans can dream, right?
