Chiefs planning interactive fan light and sound shows for Sunday’s game vs. Chargers
When the Chiefs players are introduced before their “Sunday Night Football” game against the Chargers, they will be greeted by a special light show.
Chiefs fans will be providing the visuals.
This is from a news release from the team: “The stadium announcer will prompt fans as the lights go down, and the crowd will open their Chiefs app on their smartphone, press ‘join light show’ and their screen will begin to flash in sync to the beat of the music of the stadium.”
Fans will need to download the Chiefs app on their device and open it when player introductions begin. To participate, those fans will need to tap “Join Light Show” and enable microphone and camera access.
The light show will be repeated at the end of the third quarter.
Fans also will be asked to use their voices on Sunday night.
The Chiefs are planning to pay tribute to setting the record for the loudest crowd noise, which happened during an NFL game against the Patriots in 2014.
This is what the team shared in a news release: “During the first half, fans will be prompted to unleash their team spirit and cheer as loud as they can. To honor the accomplishment, the Chiefs and Bud Light have created a custom, co-branded glass fridge that will sit on the GEHA Drum Deck in the stadium and will ‘break open’ as fans cheer to honor breaking the world record in 2014.”
The Chiefs are planning to show a video at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium dubbed a “Decade of Decibels” and then show former Chiefs stars who were in that 2014 game against the Patriots.
Fans who are at least 21 years old will receive a special koozie with a QR code inside.
“The QR code will lead them to a Bud Light webpage (that will be age gated before allowing entry to the site),” the team said. “Once the crowd cheers and the fridge ‘cracks open,’ fans can enter online to win free beer for an entire year – and 142 people will be selected as winners.”
Hali’s honor
Former defensive lineman Tamba Hali, who is the Chiefs 2024 Hall of Fame inductee, will be the drum leader on Sunday night.
The Chiefs said nearly 100 former players will be at the game to celebrate Hali’s induction at halftime of the game.
