During his three-week absence due to injury, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has ascended to the top spot in NFL history in career field-goal percentage.

Butker’s career field-goal percentage of 89.21% is No. 1, according to Pro Football Reference. The Ravens’ Justin Tucker is second (89.03%) and Carolina’s Eddy Piñeiro is third (88.53%).

Piñeiro missed a pair of field-goal attempts Sunday in a loss to the Buccaneers. Tucker missed two field-goal tries and an extra point in the Ravens’ 24-19 loss to the Eagles.

Tucker has missed eight field-goal attempts this season, which is already the most of his career. What could be the cause of his troubles? Well, some point to the kerfuffle between Tucker and the Chiefs ahead of the AFC Championship Game in Baltimore in January.

Remember that?

Former Chiefs wide receiver Gehrig Dieter has posted on social media a few times about how tight end Travis Kelce “broke” Tucker because of that stormy interaction.

If that seems like a leap, well, perhaps it is. But Dieter, who played three seasons with the Chiefs is hardly alone. Many others believe Tucker, a five-time All-Pro, hasn’t been the same since Kelce tossed his gear.

Here is just a small fraction of what fans have been saying about Kelce jinxing Tucker in the AFC Championship Game in January.
