Chiefs players embraced Black Friday look for their game against Raiders
It may not have been intentional, but several Chiefs players used Black Friday as a theme for their fashion walk into GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Ahead of the Chiefs’ Friday afternoon game against the Raiders, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, tackle Wanya Morris, rookie running back Carson Steele and others arrived in all black or wore black as an accessory.
A couple of players seemed to be sending messages with their fashion choices, like a sweatshirt from Smile Big Clothing that read “Keep Your Head Up” in upside-down lettering. It is described on the company’s website as “a wearable self-reminder across the chest to keep that head up and continue moving forward.”
Ahead of the game against the Raiders, who are nicknamed the Silver and Black, Morris wore a silver and black sweater coat.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes arrived runway-ready in Prada and Louis Vuitton.
His black Prada oversized nylon bomber jacket ($5,100) had a detachable hood and ribbed knit cuffs to keep out the November chill. He wore it over a red Chiefs T-shirt and black Louis Vuitton denim workwear pants ($1,800) of washed denim and canvas.
The serious-in-black ensemble drew the eye to his Chiefs-red Louis Vuitton Trainer Maxi Sneakers ($1,890). The alligator-printed calf leather sneakers were inspired by Pharrell Williams’ Spring-Summer 2024 collection for the French luxury house.
Travis Kelce’s coat took the bomber jacket to an elevated level. His velvet number by Kith ($715) had hand-beaded, applique artwork, a washed satin lining and ribbed cuffs. Kith is a New York City-based lifestyle brand founded in 2011 by creative director Ronnie Fieg.
One notable change from other games this season: Kelce wasn’t wearing retro Air Jordans. Perhaps that’s his warm-weather footwear.
Here is more from the Style by Kelce site.
Defensive lineman Chris Jones looked ready to hit the slopes in an off-white puffer coat.
Although temperatures weren’t expected to reach the 40s on Friday in KC, rookie running back Carson Steele wore a black T-shirt.
Running back Isiah Pacheco, who was expected to play after missing more than two months of the season due to injury, stood out among all the dark colors in a red Balenciaga sports icon ski puffer ($4,350).
The red beanie wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins wore with a dark coat also made a bold Chiefs statement.
