Two angles of Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes trucking 49ers’ Malik Mustapha on TD run
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn’t have a great game Sunday with his arm, but he showed off his rushing ability again against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Chiefs had a two-point lead late in the third quarter at Levi’s Stadium when Mahomes took off running and picked up 33 yards with an electric dash.
This was an incredible play.
That turned out to be only the second-best rush by Mahomes on the drive. The Chiefs moved the ball to the 49ers’ 1-yard line when they faced a fourth-down play.
The Chiefs didn’t think for a minute about attempting a field goal, and you know they don’t run a quarterback sneak these days. But Mahomes ended up running for the touchdown and he trucked 49ers defensive back Malik Mustapha at the goal line.
Here are two looks at the play on the tough run by Mahomes.
“I wasn’t even trying to run him over,” Mahomes said in a postgame interview with Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews. “I was just trying to get in the end zone. I’m a little heavy, so I got some weight to me, so I ended up getting in there.”
As you might expect, Mahomes’ big play generated a lot of reactions on social media. Here are a few of my favorites.
