49ers punter completely whiffed while trying to tackle Chiefs’ Mecole Hardman
A punter’s job is pretty much straightforward. Roughly 99% of their work is just kicking the ball to the other team.
But every so often, the punter is called upon to make a tackle when an opponent breaks off a long return. San Francisco’s Mitch Wishnowsky had just such an assignment Sunday during a the 49ers’ game against the Chiefs at Levi’s Stadium.
The Chiefs’ Mecole Hardman, who has historically had success against the 49ers, had an electric 55-yard punt return in the first half on Sunday.
Wishnowsky had a chance to make the tackle near the end of the return, but he didn’t seem keen on trying to grab Hardman. That made for a funny moment.
