Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a rough first 40 minutes during Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.

Mahomes threw a pair of interceptions in that span. One was on a deflected pass attempt and the other came when rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy fell down.

On the latter play, San Francisco’s Deommodore Lenoir picked off the Mahomes pass and returned it 33 yards. During the return, Mahomes’ day got a little worse and he was hit in the throat by the 49ers’ Maliek Collins.

That’s the Maliek Collins who was born in Kansas City, Kansas, and played football at Center High School.

Take a look.

No flag was thrown on the play, which ignited talk of the Chiefs getting all the calls from game officials (sarcasm) and Collins likely to be banned from football (more sarcasm).
