‘Grotesquerie’ creator: Niecy Nash took Chiefs’ Travis Kelce under her wing on set
Fans of the FX show “Grotesquerie” have seen some different sides of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Kelce portrays Ed Laclan and viewers first saw him as a clean-cut good guy. Later, the character had a mullet and a shameful story to tell.
FX shared this fun video of Kelce’s transformation.
“Grotesquerie” marks Kelce’s first foray into dramatic acting after he had appeared on “Moonbase 8” and “Saturday Night Live.”
Series creator Ryan Murphy detailed in an interview with Variety how “Grotesquerie” star Niecy Nash took Kelce under her wing while the show was being filmed.
“Niecy and Travis had the most amazing relationship on set, because he was wonderful and a little nervous, and she instantly was like, we got you. You’re good. Come here,” Murphy said. “So she sat with him between takes, and they’re such good friends, and remain good friends. And they do have sort of — I don’t want to say anything to piss off the Swifties. I have to be careful!”
Murphy was hinting at a possible on-screen love scene between Nash and Kelce.
Nash attended last month’s Chiefs-Chargers game at SoFi Stadium.
“I’m going to get to see him, but also I saw him play in the Super Bowl. But we didn’t know each other then,” she told People magazine. “Now it’s different. At first it was just, like, the game. And now it’s like, ‘Oh, there’s my friend Travis. Hey Travis!’ That’s different. It’s personal now.”
You can see how well Nash and Kelce got a long on the set in this video, which includes actress Raven Goodwin.
