Chiefs’ Travis Kelce portrays a Roman gladiator in a new Pepsi commercial
“Sweeping epics” are words usually used to describe movies, but there is a new commercial for the start of the 2024 NFL season that can be characterized in that way.
And it stars Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
The Pepsi commercial opens with two fans talking about their fantasy football teams at a restaurant. One brags about having Kelce and Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson. The other says they’ve got Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Ravens running back Derrick Henry.
After opening their cans of soda, the fans are transported into a Roman gladiator arena with those four players and singer Megan Thee Stallion. The rap star is an empress who has tigers released into the arena with the players.
Kelce and the other NFL stars then figure ways to outsmart the animals.
This is a pretty epic commercial and while it’s no “Gladiator,” Kelce does get to deliver the big line: “What? Are you not entertained?”
Russell Crowe would be proud.
