As expected, the Kansas football team dismantled Lindenwood 48-3 in Thursday’s 2024 season opener at Children’s Mercy Park.

While renovations are being done at David Booth Memorial Stadium, the Jayhawks will play home games on both sides of the state line. They’ll play two games at Children’s Mercy Park and four at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Because Sporting Kansas City’s stadium was readied for football, it meant there were some tight spots between the stands and the playing field.

But there was ample room on the sideline. Unfortunately, one woman on KU’s sideline absorbed a huge hit when running back Daniel Hishaw ran out of bounds. It appeared she may have been hit in the face by Hishaw’s helmet, and the woman was knocked to the ground.

Hishaw immediately made sure she was uninjured, but this was a huge hit.

KU coach Lance Leipold also made a point of checking on the woman during a break in the game.

This was a nice gesture.
