Another former Kansas City sports talk host is going to get a national television gig on FS1.

Danny Parkins, who worked at KCSP (610 AM) from 2011-17, will be on a new FS1 show this fall, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Parkins had been at 670 The Score in Chicago until leaving this week.

While announcing his departure Tuesday, Parkins talked about his journey.

“I don’t take it lightly from where I started at 30K a year, doing two hours a day, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Kansas City to afternoon drive (in Chicago), home of my two favorite teams as a kid, Cubs and Bulls ... This has been fulfilling,” Parkins said.

He added: “This is a life-changing opportunity for me and my family. ... That’s been my dream for 20 years professionally (to work on Chicago radio). ... I thought I was going to be here for 25 years. I can pass a lie-detector test on that because I never really thought, maybe it was from insecurity or self-deprecation, it wasn’t from lack of ambition or belief in my talent, but I didn’t really think this was going to be possible for me.”

Barrett Media said FS1 is changing its lineup following the departure of Skip Bayless, whose final “Undisputed” show was held earlier this month.

“Parkins, who has filled in across programming throughout the year on ‘First Things First’ and ‘The Herd,’ had been a target of the network and was recently offered a seven-figure deal,” Barrett Media wrote.

When the FS1 show debuts, Parkins will be the second former Kansas City sports talk host to be on the network.

Nick Wright, who was born in Kansas City, worked at KCSP before moving to a station in Houston and went to Fox Sports in 2016. He is a co-host of “First Things First” on FS1.
