Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. has career earnings of just under $20 million, and he signed that historic 11 year, $288 million contract earlier this year.

But while Witt has generational wealth, he’s not that different from you and me. He also loves a good deal. Ditto for teammate Vinnie Pasquantino.

While on the Chris Rose Rotation podcast, Pasquantino revealed he doesn’t use a fake name when staying at hotels on the road ... because he’s trying to get a good deal.

“When we stay at Marriotts, I like to get the points so I just use my real name to get the nights,” Pasquantino said. “I’m like a titanium elite member at Marriott thanks to staying at Marriott on the road.”

Pasquantino was (jokingly) asked if Witt does the same.

“He tries to get his nights, but he uses a different name,” Pasquantino noted.

Wait, he really wants the points?

“Yes, he does. We talk about it quite a bit,” Pasquantino said. “He’s like, ‘Yeah, I tried to go get my points, but they wouldn’t let me because the name. They could call and make it happen, but it’s just not worth it.’”

Rose noted that the clerks at a Marriott should know that’s really Witt.

“They believe that it’s him, but they’re like, ‘Well, it’s under this name, so we can’t give it to your account.’ He’s like, ‘Well, why not? I’m standing right in front of you.’”

Rose said the hotel chain should just give Witt the points.

“Technically, I guess they don’t give you the points because the team pays for the room, but you can get the nights,” Pasquantino said. “So you would think it would be even easier to make that happen.”

Pasquantino talked about the difference between points and nights.

“I like getting the nights because it just adds up, because if you get enough free nights, then you get free rooms,” Pasquantino said. “And I use it in the offseason.”

If they Royals should one day give Pasquantino a huge contract, he’ll still try to get the points and any other deal.

“I’m always going to be counting Marriott points that don’t matter,” he said. “My favorite restaurant in Kansas City that I go to for lunch, Potbelly — I mean I’m grinding points right now at Potbelly getting free sandwiches left and right.”
