Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes could be adding to his already sizable collection of trophies this weekend.

Mahomes, who helped the Chiefs to an overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, is one of the nominees for Sportsman of the Year at the 2024 Black Entertainment Television Awards.

The awards show, which calls itself Culture’s Biggest Night, will air at 7 p.m. Sunday on BET. Stars from the music and acting world will be recognized, along with sports stars like Mahomes, the MVP of the last two Super Bowls.

Mahomes is up against seven other athletes, including five NBA stars. They are the Lakers’ LeBron James, Warriors’ Steph Curry, Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards, Knicks’ Jalen Brunson and Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and boxer Gervonta Davis are the others in the running. Hurts won the award a year ago.
