White House staffers hoping Taylor Swift joins Chiefs when they visit on Friday
The Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift romance is inescapable.
There was even indirect talk about it at the White House this week ahead of the Chiefs’ trip to see President Joe Biden, who will honor the Super Bowl LVIII champions.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked Tuesday at a news conference if President Biden would talk about gun violence prevention when the Chiefs visit on Friday.
That’s because the Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally at Union Station in February was marred by a shooting that left one woman dead and many others injured.
Jean-Pierre declined to say what Biden would discuss when the Chiefs visit. She was then asked a follow-up question: Would Taylor Swift be attending Friday’s celebration?
Swift is dating Kelce (as you’ve likely heard).
“That’s a good question. I think the Swifties behind these double doors are hoping that Taylor Swift makes an appearance. I don’t have anything for you,” Jean-Pierre said with a laugh. “I don’t know. I can’t speak to her schedule, but I know there’s a lot of interest in this building and on campus.”
Swift is playing Eras Tour shows on Wednesday and Thursday in Madrid, then will be off until Sunday. So theoretically, she could jet to D.C. to join Kelce and the team, but it would be a quick trip.
While Andy Reid’s wife, Tammy, attended last year’s Super Bowl ceremony at the White House, many other spouses and girlfriends were not with the team. And so, it seems unlikely Swift will be at the White House with the Chiefs.
