Temperatures dropped 5 degrees in some parts of Kansas City during the apex of Monday’s solar eclipse. Local grocery stores did steady business while the moon was passing in front of the sun as customers snapped up glasses to see the celestial event.

It even captured the attention of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany. They were among those who took time to see the eclipse and share their thoughts on social media.

Their 3-year-old daughter, Sterling, also had fun looking at the moon blot out the sun. Well, 90% of the sun, as Kansas City was not in the path of a total eclipse.

Still, Mahomes was impressed, and he had a great reaction in a post he shared on X (formerly Twitter) of Brittany and Sterling.

“That,” Mahomes wrote, “was crazy not going to lie”

In an Instagram story, Brittany Mahomes asked Sterling what she saw. Her reply: “I see the moon.”

Meanwhile, 1-year-old Bronze seemed uninterested, as one might expect.

Here are more photos that were shared.
