Saquon Barkley has been impressed by Kansas City Chiefs’ dynastic run of success
The Giants had a dreadful 2023 season, particularly on offense, as they finished 30th in scoring. New York was held to 10 or fewer points in seven games.
Running back Saquon Barkley joined the “New Heights” podcast this week and said he was a little surprised the Giants couldn’t turn things around because the team stuck together and never stopped working hard.
Those struggles are part of the reason why Barkley, who signed with the Eagles earlier this month after six years with the Giants, has been impressed with the Chiefs’ run of success.
The Chiefs have won eight consecutive AFC West championships, been to six straight AFC Championship Games since Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback, advanced to four Super Bowls and won three Lombardi Trophies in the past five seasons.
Barkley mentioned the Chiefs’ dynasty to “New Heights” podcast co-host/Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce after talking about the Giants trying to turn around their fortunes a season ago.
“The NFL is (freaking) hard. Like, people do not understand that,” Barkley said. “That’s, like, what you guys are doing right now in Kansas City, you and Pat, like hats off to you. From the outside, like when you get in the league and you actually — it’s easy from like a fan’s point of view — but when you (are) actually in it, like, it’s like so much more respectable (what the Chiefs have done).
“It’s tough. Even when you do (stuff) the right way, even when you work hard. Like it’s still football. Somebody could land on you this way. The ball can go this way. Bro, it’s crazy.”
