The KC Current had the opportunity to play home games last season in one of the best soccer stadiums in the country: Children’s Mercy Park.

But the players never felt quite at home at Sporting Kansas City’s stadium.

“At Children’s Mercy, Sporting had one of the dopest locker rooms, but we weren’t allowed to use it. We were in the visiting one,” Current midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta told the KC Business Journal. “When I played with the Utah Royals, we had our own, as well, so it is special.”

The Current will not only have their own locker room, they’ll be playing in their own park: CPKC Stadium. It opens Saturday, and the Current will be the first women’s professional team in the world to have its own stadium.

It’s a seismic moment for women’s sports. Oh, and the locker room at CPKC Stadium is pretty dope, too.

The Current released a video of the players getting their first look at their new locker room and they were thrilled.

Soccer fans were also delighted by the locker room. Many shared their thoughts in response to the video from the Current.
