Shoppers love to unearth treasures during their search in a thrift store, and one person in Texas hit the jackpot.

Lelands, the sports memorabilia and card auction house, said a shopper at a Rockwall, Texas thrift store discovered a baseball that had been signed by members of the Whitehouse High School team.

What made this so special is the autographs were from a decade ago, and there is one prominent name: Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“Sourcing from Patrick’s senior year of high school, this Champro Official League baseball has been signed by six of Whitehouse, Texas’ finest with, most notably, Patrick Mahomes,” Lelands wrote on its website. “Prominently signed and inscribed ‘#5’ on the sweet spot in black, this scarce and unique baseball has tremendous eye appeal and is a phenomenal memento from the future Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl Champion.”

Lelands has the ball up for auction and the highest bid as of Tuesday morning was $2,750.

Mahomes was a star pitcher at Whitehouse, and 10 years ago Monday he threw a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts. He outdueled current White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech that day.
