One thing we learned about Chris Jones’ new contract with the Chiefs is that $158.75 million can do wonders for an academic grade.

CEO/chairman Clark Hunt had received an F-minus from the Chiefs players in this year’s NFL Players Association grades, but Jones said that mark had changed to an A-plus.

That’s quite the 180.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was among the players who shared their excitement about Jones’ new deal after it was revealed on Saturday night.

Mahomes apparently had a feeling Jones wouldn’t be leaving the Chiefs. That sentiment was shared just minutes after the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime at Super Bowl LVIII.

NFL Films shared a clip of the interaction on Monday.

“Hey bro, you ain’t going nowhere, I promise you,” Mahomes confidently told Jones as they hugged while red, yellow and white confetti fell at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Jones responded: “Hey, I told them: Keep me.”

Mahomes, who was holding his daughter, Sterling, then told Jones: “Hey, we’re not done, dog. I want three.”

That would be the first-ever Super Bowl threepeat, which is the Chiefs goal heading into the 2024 season. Jones agreed.

“We got to get three,” Jones said.
