Texas receiver Xavier Worthy explains why he’d be perfect fit for the Chiefs
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes hosted the Chiefs pass catchers for informal workouts last April in Texas, and a few college players joined the sessions.
That included SMU’s Rashee Rice, TCU’s Quentin Johnston and Boston College’s Zay Flower. All three were selected weeks later in the NFL Draft in Kansas City.
If Mahomes has more workouts with pass catchers, it will be interesting to see if Texas Longhorns receiver Xavier Worthy is invited.
Worthy made a splash at the NFL Combine by running the fastest 40-yard time ever recorded at the annual evaluations in Indianapolis.
In an interview with USA Today’s Tyler Dragon, Worthy said he received a text from Mahomes after that blazing run, so they two know one another.
And Worthy, whose 26 career touchdown receptions were the third-most in Texas history, is hopeful the Chiefs will pick him in next month’s draft in Detroit.
“In a perfect world, I definitely would want to go to the Chiefs,” Worthy told Dragon. “Just the way Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs improvise and use you. They had Tyreek Hill. The way they used him, I feel like that would be a perfect fit for me.”
