Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes visits Adidas headquarters in Germany, meets Jürgen Klopp
The movie “Air” detailed how Nike swooshed in and signed Michael Jordan to wear their shoes. Perhaps one day a film will be made about how Adidas landed Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
While Mahomes’ signature shoe hasn’t changed the sneaker landscape like the Air Jordan did in the 1980s, there is no higher-profile athlete in the United States than Mahomes. And he’s endorsing Adidas.
Fresh off his third Super Bowl title, Mahomes traveled to Herzogenaurach, Germany, and visited Adidas’ headquarters. While there, he met legendary soccer coach Jürgen Klopp.
After a successful stint as Dortmund’s manager from 2008-15, Klopp began coaching Liverpool and he’s won the English Premier League title, the FA Cup and a Champions League trophy.
Social media posts showed Mahomes also met Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden and rugby star Siya Kolisi.
Gulden wrote on Instagram: “Thank you for visiting us! You impressed all of us with your presence! Humble, motivating, open, competent, nice…. we are so proud to work with you! Enjoy your holiday… we look forward to next season!”
