If Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker had his druthers, he’d only take the field in Super Bowl LVIII to attempt extra points and for kickoffs.

But the nonprofit Hope Center of Kansas City is hoping Butker has a historically great game Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.

The Novus clothing company said it will make a $100,000 donation to Hope Center if Butker is the first kicker to win the Super Bowl MVP award. Novus is based out of New York state but the Chiefs kicker knows the founders.

Butker has had a sensational season, making 33 of 35 field-goal attempts. In the Chiefs’ past five games, Butker has converted all 15 field-goal tries.

“The Hope Center is an organization that I heard about this past season,” Butker said Wednesday. “I was really encouraged with all the things that they’re doing in Kansas City to help the youth. And so now this is a company with a bunch of friends of mine, they do a great job with their apparel and making a difference in Albany and all across the country. They’re purpose-driven organizations, and I really support what they’re doing.”

Novus is owned by brothers Nick and Garrett Bernard, and the company is planning to step up even if Butker doesn’t win the MVP award.

If Butker makes a game-winning field goal in the game’s final minute, Novus said it will donate new football jerseys to every public high school in Kansas City and San Francisco.

The Hope Center describes itself as a “youth and community development organization. Our vision is to develop communities where the vulnerable can have hope and flourish.”
