One thing I love about the NFL’s mic’d-up videos is how fans get to see the little conversations players from opposing teams have during a game.

That was on display in a video the Chiefs posted on their social-media channels. It’s of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was wearing a microphone during Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.

The video begins with Mahomes praising Ravens players after they’d hit him. That sounds odd, but Mahomes seems like a polite fellow.

Mahomes had taken off running in the game and was hit by Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen and safety Marcus Williams. Mahomes pops to his feet and says, “Good hit boy. Good hit boy. Good hit.”

Later, Mahomes was taken down by Queen, who says, “You ain’t getting away from me.”

Mahomes’ response, “I know you fast. I got a first though, I know that. I know you’re gonna hawk me down though.”

Another clip shows Mahomes throwing the ball away before being hit by Baltimore safety Kyle Hamilton.

“Good rush dog,” Mahomes says. “Good rush.”

Mahomes took some big hits in the game, but the video shows he kept his composure. That’s a word he emphasized with teammates in the huddle.

This is a fun video.
