Nick Wright sums up the feeling of all Chiefs fans about Marquez Valdes-Scantling
The Chiefs went into M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on Sunday and took what the Ravens wanted most: the Lamar Hunt Trophy.
A trip to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII was secured thanks to one of the most maligned Chiefs players, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling. He hauled in a 32-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes on a third-down play and let the Chiefs run out the clock.
Valdes-Scantling played off the name of the Ravens’ stadium when he posted a picture of Xaviar Michael Babudar on X (formerly Twitter). Babudar, who was known as superfan Chiefsaholic, has been charged with a string of bank robberies.
Valdes-Scantling was targeted twice in Sunday’s game and made the catch both times for 38 receiving yards against the Ravens. That came a week after Valdes-Scantling caught two passes for 62 yards in a Divisional playoff win over the Bills.
Some Chiefs fans had been calling for the team to cut Valdes-Scantling after some key drops during the regular season. Others thought he should be benched.
Those fans offered a mea culpa Sunday, including Fox Sports’ Nick Wright, and a couple of former Chiefs players shared their thoughts, too.
