Amid the Chiefs’ celebration Sunday on the field at Highmark Stadium, tight end Travis Kelce made a point of finding Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

The Chiefs defeated Buffalo 27-24 in an AFC Divisional playoff game, ending the Bills season for the third time in four years. But Kelce wanted to let Allen know he was impressed with what the quarterback and his team had accomplished.

At the end of November, the Bills had a 6-6 record and were 11th in the AFC. They ripped off five victories to end the season, won their division and got the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.

“I actually went up to Josh Allen after the game and told him congrats,” Kelce said Wednesday on the “New Heights” podcast, “how much I respect him and respect his game and the fact that they made it this far to the divisional round dealing with all those injuries man, where they were in the middle of the season, everybody counting them out, you know?

“I think the Bills have a lot to be proud of in how their players reacted and how their coaches reacted, because you don’t get to where they got by just having a whole bunch of guys not invested. I think they got a lot of the right guys. Unfortunately it’s a part of the game, injuries happen. They were a pretty beat-up defense, unfortunately. And they did what they could with what they had and there’s absolutely nothing to be hanging your head about, even though it does seem like they were just that close to making it to the next round.”

Kelce also talked with Allen at halftime of Sunday’s game.

CBS Sports cameras caught the moment as the teams were running to the locker room after the second quarter.

Podcast co-host Jason Kelce asked what his brother and Allen said.

“Not often do you go down the same tunnel at halftime,” Travis Kelce noted. “This is a unique case where we’re all going to the same tunnel and I just caught Josh, he might, uh, might have asked me how I’m getting so open, and I just told him, ‘Baby I blend in the trees with the best of them baby.’ Stealth mode. You’ve got to stealth mode as a skillset man. That’ll get you out of anything. Just blending into trees, baby.”
