Travis Kelce says Taylor Swift loved seeing Jason Kelce’s shenanigans at Chiefs game
Eagles center Jason Kelce arrived at Sunday’s Chiefs-Bills AFC Divisional playoff game with a plan.
Kelce was wearing two “Big Yeti” shirts, but he planned to ditch them while hanging out with Bills Mafia, who were tailgating outside Highmark Stadium. But, as he explained on the “New Heights” podcast, the opportunity for Kelce to bare his chest didn’t present itself.
So when he got into the stadium, Kelce told his wife, Kylie, he was going to ditch the shirt. Kylie, um, advised him not to do it because they were going to meet his brother’s girlfriend for the first time.
You know, superstar singer Taylor Swift.
Jason told his brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, about the viral moment from Sunday. It began when Travis Kelce scored a touchdown. Seconds later a bare-chested Jason Kelce left the suite with a beer and celebrated.
“I wanted to take my shirt off at the tailgate, and because we kind of got pushed back on the tailgate front I didn’t get to have my shirt off out there,” Jason Kelce said. “And then when I entered the box, I noticed I could jump out of the box and I’ll be outside. And if I take my shirt off, then I’m outside and a part of the Buffalo Bills pageantry. It was something about the entire day.
“I got caught up in the magic of Bills Mafia. It is electric. Everybody’s energy, the shenanigans and I’m like, I gotta have my shirt off at some point, and I didn’t get to do it beforehand. And I’m like, I can’t just take my shirt off in the box. Like, who takes their shirt off in a box? It’s heated, like, you’re not really doing it.”
He then realized he could step out of the suite and into the stands, so that’s when he hatched the plan to go shirtless.
Jason Kelce shared his intentions with Kylie.
“The moment we got into the suite, I said I’m taking my shirt off and I’m jumping out of that suite, and she said, ‘Jason, don’t you dare,’” Jason said. “I’m not asking permission. I’m doing this.
“And she was already telling me to be on my best behavior because we were meeting Taylor so she’s like, ‘Be on your best behavior.’ I was like, ‘Kylie when I met you the first day I met you I was blackout drunk and fell asleep at the bar. This is part of the charm. This is part of the Jason Kelce charm.’”
The good news is Swift was charmed by Jason Kelce’s antics.
“Well Tay said she absolutely loved you,” Travis Kelce said.
The shirts are gone
Someone got those “Big Yeti” shirts, which is Travis Kelce’s nickname. Jason Kelce just is not sure who.
“I can’t remember what happened to the shirt, if I’m being honest with you,” Jason said. “I had two ‘Big Yeti’ shirts on. I had one ‘Big Yeti’ shirt on underneath and I had a fleece and then I had that ‘Big Yeti’ shirt on over the top of it. So I was Big Yetied out.”
