Actor Rob McElhenney fears Eagles facing Chiefs in Super Bowl because of Patrick Mahomes

Rob McElhenney created and stars in the comedy “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia,” and he’s also a huge fan of that city’s sports teams.

In the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast, McElhenney and his wife/co-star Kaitlin Olson talked football with the Chiefs’ Travis Kelce and Eagles center Jason Kelce.

At one point, McElhenney praised the brothers for an episode of the podcast and then mentioned one of Travis Kelce’s teammates: Patrick Mahomes.

“I watched the most recent podcast where you were talking about the game and they were so respectful to each other and giving it up for the defenses which are playing so incredibly well,” McElhenney said.

“But, man Patrick Mahomes is something else. That dude is in-credible. And the Chiefs are not going anywhere, and I do not want to see you in the Super Bowl. I really truly don’t.”

Travis Kelce responded: “We go as Patty Mahomes goes. Alright Nah.”

The Eagles and Chiefs are championship contenders again, so a rematch of Super Bowl LVII isn’t out of the question. The Chiefs won the Lombardi Trophy in February thanks in part to the stellar play of Mahomes, who was the game’s MVP.

That’s a fact McElhenney knows all too well, and is probably why he doesn’t want to see Mahomes again facing the Eagles in the Super Bowl.

‘Such good examples’

Olson praised both brothers for the love they show each other and their families. You may recall that they shed tears while talking about their mom, who became a star at the Super Bowl.

“Can I just mention, I know it’s sort of out there, but you’re such good examples of positive masculinity and everyone’s talking about it and they’re not wrong,” Olson said. “It’s lovely how much you love each other, how kind you are to your mom and to your male teammates. And it’s just really nice to see.

“We have two boys and we’re like big hugs and kisses in our family, and I think it’s really important. So thank you for that too.”

Jason Kelce responded: “We’re big huggers in the Kelce household.”
