Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, Harrison Butker can each set a record on Monday
Quarterback Josh Allen threw a touchdown pass last week in the Bills’ 24-22 loss against the Denver Broncos, giving him 18 in seven career starts in “Monday Night Football” games.
That’s the second-most in a quarterback’s first seven “Monday Night Football” games, per ESPN, one behind former Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino, who is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
When the Chiefs play host to the Eagles at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, Patrick Mahomes will have a chance to match or best Marino’s record.
Mahomes will be making his seventh “Monday Night Football” start when the Chiefs take on Philly. He has 17 touchdown passes in his first six Monday night games, so with three against the Eagles, Mahomes can top Marino’s record.
It wouldn’t be the most earth-shattering record for Mahomes, the two-time MVP and two-time Super Bowl MVP. But it’s something that could get mentioned during the broadcast.
Butker nears NFL mark
Mahomes’ teammate, kicker Harrison Butker, has a chance to set a more significant record on Monday.
Following their 21-14 victory over the Dolphins in Frankfurt, Germany, the Chiefs noted Butker has 839 points in his first 99 career games.
The NFL record for most points through a kicker’s first 100 games is held by the Ravens’ Justin Tucker. He had 850 points in his first 100 games.
With 12 points against the Eagles on Monday, Butker can break Tucker’s record.
