It may be hard to believe given what’s transpired over the past decade, but Kansas City sports fans once endured a prolonged period of suffering.

But things began to turn during a glorious two-day span in late September 2014.

On Sept. 29, the Chiefs routed the Patriots 41-14 at Arrowhead Stadium on “Monday Night Football.” Travis Kelce caught eight passes for 93 yards and scored a touchdown.

The next night, the Royals topped the Oakland A’s 9-8 in 12 innings at Kauffman Stadium. It was one of the best postseason games in Major League Baseball history.

Kelce was fired up about the win, a fact we know now because of the latest oddity to come from him dating superstar singer Taylor Swift.

Fans of the singer (“Swifties”) have been poring over Kelce’s old messages on X (formerly Twitter), and have loved seeing what he was saying as a college kid. Before long, Chipotle, Taco Bell, Olive Garden and State Farm joined in the fun, as they shared Kelce’s thoughts from more than a decade ago.

The Royals also unearthed something Kelce wrote, but this was after he had joined the Chiefs. It came on Sept. 30, 2014, the night the Royals won their first playoff game in nearly three decades.

Take a look.

Kelce wasn’t wrong, because Kansas City was rocking that night. But it’s funny that people are looking up what he had to say so long ago.
