KU mascot’s gesture to Kentucky players has fans wondering if a bird flipped the bird

Big Jay had a fun interaction with the Kentucky men’s basketball team.

The top-ranked Kansas men’s basketball team used a 21-4 run Tuesday night to erase a deficit and beat Kentucky 89-84 at the Champions Classic in Chicago.

KU’s mascot, Big Jay, undoubtedly was celebrating the victory at the United Center. That’s to be expected, right?

But what Big Jay did before the game wasn’t what you usually see from a mascot.

In the United Center tunnel, Big Jay walked by the Kentucky players, slowed and gestured toward the Wildcats. At least one Kentucky player appeared to say something to the mascot, too.

Perhaps that was just a friendly wave, but more likely it was some fun pre-game banter. There is nothing more to it than that.

However ... some fans wondered if Big Jay had flipped the bird (and a few questioned if that particular gesture is even possible for a bird). Here is what KU fans and others were saying about the clip.
