Travis Kelce explains why he has no concerns about jet lag for Chiefs’ game in Germany
The Chiefs arrived in Frankfurt, Germany, on Friday morning, roughly 48 hours before kickoff of their game against the Miami Dolphins at Deutsche Bank Park.
Travelers have long dealt with jet lag on trips to Europe (and elsewhere), and the Chiefs and Dolphins planned for the flight to Germany in different ways.
The Chiefs left Kansas City shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday night and arrived in Frankfurt at 9:46 a.m. on Friday morning (Central European Time). One would think the players slept on the plane.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce this week talked about playing in a new time zone on his “New Heights” podcast.
“You’re always going to juggle when do you go out there?” Kelce said. “Do you let the guys get a whole week of getting acclimated or do you kind of like surprise it on your body and try to not necessarily get acclimated, just go out there and play a game?”
Kelce said he would be ready to play, regardless of his sleep schedule.
“I’m a guy, I really don’t feel jet lag that much,” Kelce said. “I am also a guy where if you wake me up at one in the morning or two in the morning from a good deep sleep, I will play you right now wherever. I don’t give a damn what time it is. I don’t care if I haven’t slept in three days.
“I love this game. I love going out there and balling and I could care less if we got there Sunday morning, got there five days ahead of time, I just want to go out there and get a win, man.”
There you have it. Kelce will be ready to go when the game kicks off at 8:30 a.m. (in Kansas City).
